starbucks excitement

So, today has been quite the interesting day at Starbucks @ 168th & Broadway. Considering I have been here since approximately 1PM, studying for my peds test tomorrow, I have seen some crazy characters. First of all, a man walked in about an hour ago, clearly on some type of stimulant. He proceeded to plug his cell phone in, under my seat and ask if it was okay. I said, "Sure, as long as I can go through your text messages." Unfortunately, he didn't hear that comment. If he would have, I'm sure this post might be a bit more exciting. He then told me the reason he needed to charge his phone so badly was to see the Jets vs. Colts score. Keep in mind that throughout this experience, this man was making random outbursts such as: "Go Jets!" "Yes!" "Alright." "Okay." etc. He sat down right beside me, of course, after getting his free cup of coffee (he had some sort of coupon) and have a phone conversation with an unidentified individual. Apparently this extremely hyperactive man was waiting on the bus, but was 2 dollars short for the bus fare. Keep in mind, bus far in NYC is 2.25. So, he apparenly had a quarter. He was telling the person on the other end of the phone how he had planned on asking people for change in order to get the 2 dollars for the bus. Interesting character, for sure. Very polite, too.

Story #2. Throughout my afternoon @ SBux there have been three men coming in and out, having various LOUD phone conversations, exchanging cigarettes and money, tapping each other on the shoulder -- pretty shady stuff. In addition, one of these dudes loves to hit on women, telling them to have a happy new year, among other things. He hasn't hit on me yet though, which is interesting, considering we have made awkward eye contact @ least 20 times.

To be continued...
